The Ring of Crosses in Follina
Type of route: on foot
Duration: 1.45 hours
Elevation gain: 145 m
Difficulty: Easy
The Ring of Crosses is an easy loop hiking trail that winds between the villages of Follina and Valmareno, in the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The route, lasting approximately one hour and forty-five minutes with an elevation gain of 141 meters over a distance of approximately 3.7-4 km, ideally starts from the Ponte del Cristo in Follina.
The trail initially follows a section of the Fiadora and then climbs, often along the wide mule track, toward the Cross of Follina, offering splendid views of the abbey complex.
Continuing on, the trail follows path 1029 which, crossing through a wooded section, leads to the Cross of Valmareno, from which one can enjoy a panoramic view of the village of the same name.
The route then descends toward the village of Valmareno, also crossing a ford over the Corin stream, and finally returns to Follina following the course of the Corin and the Fiadora, completing the loop.
This trail is an example of the “Water Route,” touching ancient devotional landmarks such as the crosses and offering characteristic glimpses of the pre-Alpine environment.
